Kawasaki fs481v problems.
Hi. I have an exmark turf tracer s-series with the kawasaki fs481v. The engine has started to drop rpm while mowing sometimes to the point of stalling but usually it catches itself and then sometimes backfires. It seems to happen randomly. It could happen shortly after starting or I can go half a day before it will do it. Any suggestions?
The only thing I would have done differently is when testing the "B" tab, I would have gone directly to the Neg post on the battery. So it’s the design of the Engines not just displacement. Kawasaki is famous for producing engine 'series' with the same bore, stroke and displacement but different horsepower ratings. When it dies, check for spark real quick while it's hot. Got spark, check to see it pump is pumping gas by pulling the line that feeds the carb and see if fuel pumps out while spinning over, works off crank case impulse. Can also pull the impulse line off and work it with your mouth. Needs pressure and vacuum to cycle the pump.

The problem is the bullet below that says, "Turn the governor shaft counterclockwise, fully turn the shaft to the end of its travel". Issue 1. The manual picture shows the end of the governor shaft with a screwdriver slot. The governor shaft on this engine does not have a slot.
